American Governance    (A New Course)

When a British TV show becomes popular because it demonstrates how ignorant Americans are about their own government, it is time to focus some attention on how the American system works. Though it is tempting to include one’s own political belief systems into this topic, the best thing you can do for your students is to show them different perspectives on the governance process and let them decide what they feel is best. These are critical thinking skills that will help them through the rest of their educational, professional, personal, and political lives. This course will provide you with a collection of resources related to the American governance system and some of the critical issues the nation is currently facing. Through the design of an effective web quest lesson as your course project, students can investigate, analyze, and draw conclusions about any topic you chose.
